During 2018, while we were still busy creating work for our show Shadow and Light at Bungendore Wood Works, Zina and I were invited to participate in a furniture exhibition titled Studio Furniture 18. It was a daunting prospect for us because many of the 65 invited makers from around the world were high-flying furniture makers - and neither of us had ever made a piece of furniture for a show. The exhibition was to be held again at our favourite gallery, Bungendore Wood Works. The curators wanted to stimulate everyone to produce innovative work and we welcomed this challenge. We knew that if we were to make an impression we had to do something that had never been done before. Almost every step of making Moon Table was the first time for us and we were proud of our bony-white moon floating ethereally on dark-as-night legs. To our delight, Moon Table took out Third Prize. What’s more, Moon Table sold very quickly and then in March 2019 it was featured on the cover of Australian Wood Review. We are looking forward to our next challenge.
